Law 2-The Ball

Size 3 U5, U6, U8
Size 4 U10, U12
Size 5 U14 and beyond

Law 3 - Number of Players
U5&6 3v3 no keeper (FDLSA modification)
U8 4v4 no keeper (FDLSA modification)
U10 6v6 w/keeper (FDLSA modification)
U12  8v8 w/keeper
U14 - U19 11v11 w keeper
     *Substitutes must enter at the mid line
     *Sub may only come on when referee signals to come on *Referee must be notified of a keeper substitution

Law 4 - Player Equipment

Jersey- all the same color except for keeper
Shorts (black, FDLSA requirement)
Shinguards
Socks - Must cover shinguards
Shoes
     *No jewelry, watches, necklaces, bandanas, etc. anything that can be considered dangerous to the person or another player.

Law 7 - Length of Game
U5&6 4-10 min quarters (FDLSA)
U8 4-12 min quarters (FDLSA)
U10 2-25 min halves (FDLSA)
U12-19 2-30 min halves (FDLSA)
     *Half time will be 5 minutes. The recreation league will use a Continuous clock.

 

Law 8 - Starts and Re-Starts
A coin flip will determine which direction the winner of the toss will attack, the opponent will get the kick. Switch roles in the 2nd half.
     *A goal may be scored directly from the kick-off.
     *On the kick-off the ball is in play when it is kicked and moves FORWARD.
     *The kicker does not touch the ball a second time until it has touched another player.

Law 9 - Ball Out of Play
The ball is out of play when it has wholly crossed the goal line or touchline whether on the ground or in the air.

Law 10 - Scoring
A goal is scored when the whole ball passes over the goal line.
     *Team that scores the greater # of goals is the Winner.

Law 11 - Offside
In order to be offside a player must be closer to the goal than the 2nd last defender, and the player must be involved in the play.

Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct
Direct free kicks - may score from these, defending team must give 10 yards. In the referees OPINION a player:
     *Kicks or attempts to kick opponent
     *Trips or attempts to trip opponent
     *Jumps at opponent
     *Charges an opponent
     *Pushes an opponent
     *Tackles an opponent to gain possession of the ball, making Contact with the opponent before touching the ball.
     *Holds an opponent
     *Spits at an opponent
     *Handles the ball

FREE KICK:  Taken where the penalty occurs. 
PENALTY KICK: is taken for any of the above fouls that occur in the penalty area.  
INDIRECT FREE KICK:  Must be touched by another player to score.  An indirect kick is taken where the offense occurred.
     *Plays in a dangerous manner
     *Impedes the progress of an opponent. (Obstructing)
     *Prevents the goalkeeper from releasing the ball

Goalkeeper rules: (violation of these offenses is an indirect kick)
     *Keeper takes more than six seconds to release the ball.
     *Touches the ball again with his hands after it has been released from his possession and not been touched by another player.
     *Touches the ball with his hands after it has been kicked to him by his own player.

Law 15 - Throw In
Player must face the field of play
Part of each foot on or behind the touchline.
Use both hands
| Delivers the ball from behind and over his head.

Law 16 - Goal Kick
Goal kicks are taken after a player from the opposing team sends a ball over the goal line with out it touching an opposing player.
Kick can be taken from anywhere in the goal area.
Opponents have to be outside the penalty area when the kick is taken.
Kicker may not play the ball a 2nd time until it is touched by another player.
Ball must leave the penalty area, or it is replayed.
Modifications:
     *U5,U6, U8 Lopsided score rule: A player who scores a goal will wear a red "goal" pinnie until another member of their team scores. They will not be able to score while wearing the red pinnie.
     *U5,U6, U8, NO KEEPER RULE: No player shall be a goalkeeper

General
The team should move up and down the field with the ball.
Teams should not park players in the penalty area.
Team benches: The teams will sit on the North or East sides of the fields.
The spectators shall sit on the opposite side of the field from the team.
Rosters: All coaches will present player rosters to the official for team check-in.
