Phoenix Soccer Academy Program

The Fond du Lac Soccer Association "Phoenix Academy" is a program available to girls and boys in the U8 and U10 age groups ages 7-10. Soccer Academy programs are designed to bridge the gap between recreation league and select (competitive) league play focusing on player development from professional coaching to create the best possible environment for our youth soccer players to excel once they reach the select level at U11.

Phoenix Academy Details:

  • The Academy program will be led by the Marian University Men's Team Assistant Coach Keegan Miller with support from members of the Marian staff and both the men's and women's team players. Prior to coaching at Marian University, Miller has a long history in club soccer in the states of Washington and Colorado. Most recently, he was the Director of Coaching for Kitsap Alliance FC in Silverdale, Washington where he oversaw all aspects of the youth club. Miller is a knowledgeable and experienced soccer coach that holds a USSF "A" license.
  • All players of an age group will train together but each session will include small sided games and a scrimmage.
  • Training Structure:

    • 15-20 minutes of quick multi touches on the ball.

    • 15-20 minutes of a small activity/game that will either bring out repetitions for dribbling to beat a player, dribbling for possession, passing, receiving, or striking a ball. (we will build on skills week after week and focus on a different skill each week).

    • 30-35 minutes of scrimmage play. (the last week will be a full game/scrimmage day).

  • All Practices will be held at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex.
  • The Spring season will run from mid April and continue until mid June and the Fall Season will run early September to mid-October.
  • Minimum Age: The Academy is for Players born in the calendar years of 2009-2012. Grouping is based on calendar year of birth. This is how US Soccer groups players, and how it is done at the Select/Competitive level once they reach that age. We do not group players based on school year.
  • A 100% commitment to the program is required. This program is for players who are serious about taking their game to the next level. We do understand if you need to miss a training session but ask you communicate ahead of time.
