Academy Program

Phoenix Soccer Academy Program

The Fond du Lac Soccer Association "Phoenix Academy" is a program available to girls and boys in the U7, U8 and U10 age groups ages approx 6-10. Soccer Academy programs are designed to bridge the gap between recreation league and select (competitive) league play focusing on player development from professional coaching to create the best possible environment for our youth soccer players to excel once they reach the select level at U11.

The Phoenix Academy Training focuses on these key areas: Technical, Tactical, Physical, and Psychosocial.

NEW: Summer 2020 Academy - Registration is Open

The Summer 2020 academy will train twice per week on either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday (you can select your weekly dates at registration). Based on US Youth Soccer Play On Guidelines we will modify the academy so it focuses on social distance training and technical skills without large group game play or scrimmages. As guidelines shift we may move to small-sided games but note we plan at this time to only focus on individual skill training for this special academy summer session.

This is modified from our original structure as noted above but will resume once we move into a phase that allows group play.

Academy Dates and Times:

  • Start Week of July 6th with 2 training's practice per week concluding the week of July 27th as last week of academy. The week of August 3rd will be reserved for any make-up sessions.
  • All training's will be held 5:30pm - 6:45pm at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex.

Academy Cost:

  • $65 (includes a shirt)

Phoenix Academy Details:

  • The Phoenix Academy training allows for players to be exposed to different coaches on a consistent basis, all while following a specific training curriculum created for our Academy program. Training focuses on individual player skills. Tactics for game play are not emphasized and are not taught until proper techniques and skills are in place to execute them.
  • All players of an age group will train together but each session will include small sided games and a scrimmage.
  • Training Structure:

    • 15-20 minutes of quick multi touches on the ball.

    • 15-20 minutes of a small activity/scrimmage that will either bring out repetitions for dribbling to beat a player, dribbling for possession, passing, receiving, or striking a ball. (we will build on skills week after week and focus on a different skill each week).

    • 30-35 minutes of scrimmage play - putting that days emphasis into action. (the last week will be a full game/scrimmage day).

  • All Practices will be held at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex.
  • The Spring season will run from mid April and continue until end of May and the Fall Season will run early September to mid-October.
  • Minimum Age: The Academy is for Players born in the calendar years of 2010-2013. Grouping is based on calendar year of birth. This is how US Soccer groups players, and how it is done at the Select/Competitive level once they reach that age. We do not group players based on school year.
  • A 100% commitment to the program is required. This program is for players who are serious about taking their game to the next level. We do understand if you need to miss a training session but ask you communicate ahead of time.
