(September 2, 2015): The Fond du Lac Soccer Association (FDLSA) recently named Cody Kollmann the recipient of its 2015 FDLSA Scholarship. Each year, a $250 grant is awarded to one male and/or female graduating high school senior who participated in the FDLSA soccer program.
Kollmann played club soccer for 11 years, including 7 years on Fond du Lac Phoenix teams with the select, travel program. His high school years brought him additional opportunities, playing for both the JV and varsity teams, as well as with the International School of Hannover Regions team in Hannover, Germany during his sophomore year. He was named rookie of the year his junior year, and team captain as a senior. In addition to playing ball, Kollman also served as a club referee for three years.
“Soccer has helped me as an individual throughout life, but especially helped me in school,” commented Kollmann. “It has helped me to learn to work as a team with other people – something you do on a daily basis, whether in the workplace or on a school project.” Kollmann is currently attending UW-Fond du Lac in pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
“It is an honor to present Cody with this scholarship,” said FDLSA President Chad Collett. “We are grateful for his many years of dedication as a player, and wish him continued success in college and beyond.”
The Fond du Lac Soccer Association offers youth soccer programs to more than 1,500 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18. Founded in 1974, FDLSA now includes approximately 110 recreational and 13 competitive league teams. For additional information, please visit www.fondysoccer.com.
