The annual meeting for the Fond du Lac Soccer Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is scheduled for Wednesday, September 26th beginning at 6pm at the Eagles Club in Fond du Lac located at 515 N Park Avenue.
At the annual meeting the board of directors will provide an overview of the past year “State of the Association", conduct an open forum for the public to address the board, vote on bylaw changes, and hold annual elections for open board positions.
This year, three positions are up for election. Current Board Members whose terms are up are Bob Van Kirk (Treasurer), Diane Riley (Marketing, Social and Communications), and Kip Wilson (Referees). Bob Van Kirk and Diane Riley are seeking re-election, but Kip Wilson in not as he has relocated to the Madison area.
If you are interested in helping out and joining the "working board" we have lots of positions that require volunteer time throughout the entire year. You can learn more about joining the board on our website. Online Applications are available online and to be on the ballot need to be submitted by 12pm on Monday, September 24th. The nomination committee will review and present the slate of candidates for the upcoming meeting and elections.
Should you want to learn more about the board or the process please feel free to reach out to me or any other board member prior to the 24th. We have built a great program and have a beautiful 53 acre complex with 30+ soccer fields that takes a lot of work to keep going. We know people have busy schedules - you can also volunteer at any point during the year and don't need to be "on the board" to take an active role to help keep our club moving forward. Many hands, make light work!
Based on a recommendation from the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association to consider updating our bylaws, The Fond du Lac Soccer Association Board consulted a local attorney, David Colwin, of Sager and Colwin to draft a new set of bylaws for the club. The current bylaws have been in place for a number of years, and had numerous, and quite frankly an unknown amount of changes applied to them over the years by members without legal training creating inconsistencies, loopholes, and risk to the club. David Colwin evaluated the current bylaws and drafted a new set from scratch based on his historical knowledge of the club, and current best practices for nonprofit organizations such as ours. These bylaws are written with current and future needs in consideration and will be proposed at the annual meeting to be voted on, and adopted as the new bylaws for the Fond du Lac Soccer Association.
Following the annual meeting, the monthly board meeting will take place and the election of the executive officers will take place for the 2018/2019 year.
The public is welcome to attend. Looking forward to another great year!
I want to thank all the volunteers and current Board of Directors for all their dedication throughout the year across all our programs.
