Recreational Soccer League

Welcome to the FDLSA Recreational League Info Home Page

The Fond du Lac Soccer Association Recreational League represents all recreational teams playing in Fond du Lac. These pages have been developed as a resource for all of Fond du Lac Soccer Association Recreational Soccer Teams. Various information for coaches, players, and parents about the Recreational Soccer Teams will be posted along with some club guidelines.  Please view the links to the left and below. Thank you

The Fond du Lac Soccer Association Board of Directors met last night to evaluate the status of our youth rec league summer program. This email is long, but please take the time to read it thoroughly.

Based on recommendations from the Fond du Lac Health Department as well as the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association in conjunction with US Youth Soccer and return to play protocols, we made the VERY difficult decision to cancel our summer youth rec soccer league.

As we have stated, the well-being of the players, parents, refs, coaches, volunteers, and Fond du Lac community is our #1 priority. We discussed many changes and guidelines we could put in place to hold a season, but it would be a tremendous burden of responsibility on parents and volunteers and ultimately the risk outweighed the reward. We understand we are still a month away from the postponed scheduled start of the season and hopefully in 30 days we are in a much better position than we are today, but it takes a ton of work and cost to set up a season for 120+ teams so we had to make a decision today whether to progress.

We understand kids want to play and we are all desperately craving a return to normal life. I have dedicated the past 9 years of my life to serve as a volunteer on the FDLSA Board of Directors to better this program for the community. I have spent every summer for more than a decade living down at the soccer complex. Canceling the season is not a decision we wanted to make, but it was the decision we had to make.

With the cancellation of the season, we will provide refunds for registration fees for those that request it.

As you hopefully are aware, the Fond du Lac Soccer Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We DO NOT receive any funding from the city, county, or school district. We operate 100% on our own through the support of our programs, sponsorships, and private donations. Losing out on program revenue from this spring and summer (potentially $175,000+) will have a MAJOR impact on the future of our program and soccer in Fond du Lac. Even though our fields are empty of players today, doesn’t mean there is not maintenance that needs to be done to upkeep our 53 acre complex throughout the summer at a significant cost to our nonprofit organization.

We know that some families have taken a significant financial hit during this pandemic and if you need the money please request a refund. If you are able to afford it though, we ask that you consider turning your refund into a donation to the Fond du Lac Soccer Association. Any bit will help us tremendously as we weather this storm and lack of active programs. And, any donations are tax deductible!

If you wish to request a refund, visit - pick “Register a Participant” and select the option for “2020 Rec League Refund Request”. This process looks similar to when you registered for the league. Please note that if you wish to get a refund, at the end, it will show $0, but that is how the system is built. We will process the request for the amount you requested (full refund, partial, etc).  If you have comments regarding your refund (you have closed the account, you paid in cash/check, change of address) there is a comments box you can add these notes.

It is important to use this online system vs sending an email so we can track it efficiently and ensure no request gets overlooked. As you can imagine tracking hundreds of emails could be an issue.  For all refunds, please make your request by June 30th and allow ample time to process these. We have to do each one manually in the system.

We are very optimistic that we will be able to return to play this fall including our Select League (more on that to come for those interested in playing), our Soccer Academy, Little Kickers, and we are also evaluating a modified fall rec league.

As I close this out, I want you to know that we did not come to this decision easily and really did try and figure out anyway to still make these programs happen.

Please feel free to reach to either myself or our Rec Director Luke Newman with any questions.
