Fondy Phoenix Academy: WYSA SECL Academy League Play

Academy League

Academy League

The Fond du Lac Soccer Association is a Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) accredited Academy program and participates in the WYSA SECL Academy League for U9 and U10 players.

Teams compete in regional league play during both the fall and spring seasons, typically playing six league games per season, along with participation in 1–2 tournaments each season. Fall schedules are generally released by WYSA in mid-August, and teams will practice on days and times determined by each coach based on team availability. The fall season runs through late October.

The spring season begins in mid-April and concludes in mid-June, following a similar format of league games and tournament play.

Academy training begins in early August, with sessions held twice per week. League games are typically scheduled on weekends throughout September and October. In addition, teams will participate in 1–2 fall tournaments. Players will also have the option to attend a Pre-Season Training Camp during the first week of August (available for an additional fee).

We encourage you to consider joining the Fond du Lac Youth Soccer Academy. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Andy Gill at agill@fondysoccer.com.

Academy Training

Academy Training

The Fond du Lac Soccer Association “Phoenix Academy” is designed for boys and girls in the U9 and U10 age groups, with players grouped based on their school year.

Our Academy program serves as a bridge between recreational soccer and select (competitive) play, with a strong emphasis on player development. Through professional coaching and a structured training environment, we aim to prepare players for success as they transition to the select level at U11.

The Phoenix Academy focuses on four key areas of development: technical, tactical, physical, and psychosocial.

Academy Details

The Phoenix Academy trains twice per week, with licensed coaches following a structured curriculum approved by the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association, focused on long-term player development.

All training sessions are held at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex. Practice days and times are determined at the team level based on coach and player availability, rather than being set by the club. League games are typically scheduled on Saturdays and/or Sundays, with approximately half played at home and half away. SECL opponents include teams from Fond du Lac, Plymouth, Sheboygan, and the greater Milwaukee area.

The fall season begins with training in early August, followed by 6–7 league games in September and October. The spring season starts with training in early March, with games beginning in mid-April and concluding in mid-June. In addition to league play, each team will participate in 1–2 tournaments or friendly events per season.

Age Grouping: The Academy is open to U9 and U10 players, with teams formed based on school year rather than birth year.

Costs: The Academy fee for the full year (fall and spring seasons) is $TBA. Players are required to purchase a uniform kit, which typically costs approximately $125-$150 and includes jerseys, shorts, and socks. Payment plans are available.

Volunteer Requirement: Academy families are required to volunteer at the Foot of the Lake Classic Tournament, held at the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex during the last weekend of August. Each family is asked to contribute a minimum of two volunteer hours (buyout options available).
